Volunteer with Blood bike south

You can play your part in a vital service supporting hospitals, families and your community across the South.

Our volunteers are men and women from all walks of life who provide this service in their spare time.

All volunteers have to completed a rigorous training programme.

No volunteer is paid for their service.


Become a volunteer rider/driver


Riding one of our liveried bikes or cars and wearing your Blood Bike South uniform you will cover a weeknight or weekend shift. Working closely with our controller you will collect and deliver anything from medical samples, medical records, scans, x-rays, test results, urgent medicines, medical devices or human breast milk.

All prospective riders must;

Be at least 25 years of age and hold a Full Class “A” or Car License for at least 2 yrs.

Be willing to use opportunities to advance your riding/ driving skills.

Full clean license. License with points subject to clearance by our insurers.

Must live within the zone round Cork City and be able to reach any city hospital within 30 minutes of receiving a call.

25km radius around Cork city

Please note that a €50 membership fee will be required to cover administration and onboarding

Become a Volunteer Fundraiser

We are constantly fundraising and arranging events to raise money as our costs are ongoing.

Events throughout the year include everything from Bike Runs, Shopping Centre Stands, Bucket Collections, etc. We always need help and we will welcome ideas as well as helping hands.
